July’s biggest tennis moments & what’s next in August

With Wimbledon complete, the tour quickly moves to North America for the hard court season. The Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington is the first major stop and gives players the chance to build confidence before the bigger Masters and Grand Slam events.

National Bank Open 

Dates: 01 to 13 August 2026 

The National Bank Open is split between two Canadian cities. The ATP tournament takes place at IGA Stadium in Montreal, while the WTA event is held at Sobeys Stadium in Toronto. 

As one of the biggest tournaments outside the Grand Slams, it gives players the chance to earn valuable ranking points while testing themselves against the world’s best.

Cincinnati Open 

Dates: 11 to 23 August 2026 

The Cincinnati Open is another important stop before the US Open. Played on outdoor hard courts, it is often seen as the final preparation event before New York. 

Many players use Cincinnati to fine-tune their game, making it one of the strongest fields of the year. 

US Open 

Dates: 24 August to 13 September 2026  
Main draw: 30 August to 13 September 

The hard court season reaches its biggest stage at the US Open in New York. Hosted at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, it is the final Grand Slam tournament of the year.
