Longest Winning Streaks on Hard Courts in Men’s Tennis

The run started at the Rotterdam Open, where Federer lifted the trophy after beating Ivan Ljubicic in the final. His winning ways continued as he claimed titles in Dubai, Indian Wells, Miami, Cincinnati, the US Open, and Bangkok. Along the way, he showed complete control on hard courts with his smooth movement, accurate serving, and attacking style. 

Federer also won tournaments in Doha and the Australian Open during the streak. At the Australian Open, he defeated Marcos Baghdatis to add another Grand Slam title to his collection. 

The remarkable run finally came to an end in the 2006 Dubai Championships. Federer reached another final but lost a hard-fought three-set match to Rafael Nadal, ending one of the greatest winning streaks tennis has ever seen. 

Jimmy Connors won 55 matches in a row 

Before Federer rewrote the record books, Jimmy Connors put together an outstanding run of 55 straight victories on outdoor hard courts. 

His streak began during the 1974 season and continued into 1975. During that period, Connors collected titles in Tempe, Los Angeles, and Johannesburg before adding more trophies in the Bahamas, Bermuda, and Maui. 

Connors was known for his aggressive style, fighting spirit, and ability to stay focused in big matches. His consistency made him one of the toughest opponents of his era. The unbeaten run eventually ended in the final of the 1975 Stockholm Open, where Adriano Panatta defeated him in three sets.

Roger Federer appears again with another huge streak 

Federer was not satisfied with owning just one place on this list. Earlier in his career, he also produced another impressive hard-court run, winning 36 consecutive matches between 2006 and 2007. 

The streak started after his US Open title in 2006, where he defeated Andy Roddick in the final. Soon after, he added two Davis Cup victories for Switzerland before collecting more titles in Tokyo, Madrid, and the ATP Finals in Shanghai. 

His dominance continued into 2007 with another Australian Open title. Federer did not drop a single set during the tournament and beat Fernando Gonzalez in the final to complete one of the most dominant Grand Slam performances of his career. 

He then won the Dubai Championships before his unbeaten run came to an end at Indian Wells. Guillermo Canas shocked the tennis world by defeating Federer in straight sets. Although shorter than his record-breaking streak, this run showed just how consistently Federer performed on hard courts during his prime. 

Novak Djokovic’s incredible 35-match run 

Novak Djokovic also enjoyed a memorable stretch on hard courts between late 2010 and 2011, winning 35 matches in a row. The streak began in the 2010 Davis Cup final, where Djokovic won both of his singles matches to help Serbia secure its first Davis Cup title. 

He carried that momentum into the new season by winning the Australian Open after defeating Andy Murray in the final. Djokovic then continued his success by lifting trophies in Dubai, Indian Wells, Miami, and later the Canadian Open in Montreal. 

His confidence and consistency helped him become one of the toughest players to beat on hard courts during this period. The winning streak ended in the final of the Cincinnati Masters. Djokovic was forced to retire during his match against Andy Murray because of injury, bringing the impressive run to a close.
