Rising ATP Stars Making Waves in 2026

The ATP Tour welcomes a new generation of ATP stars who are ready to compete with the sport’s biggest names. While established stars continue to dominate the headlines, several young players have been building their confidence on the ATP Challenger Tour.  

Strong performances, title wins, and rapid ranking improvements have put these rising ATP stars firmly in the spotlight. If they continue their current form, 2026 could be the year these players make a big impact on the main ATP Tour.  

Check out the five rising ATP stars who are worth following this season. 

Michael Zheng 

Michael Zheng has already shown that he has the talent and mindset needed to compete at the highest level. The American enjoyed another outstanding college season while representing Columbia University, winning back-to-back NCAA singles titles. At the same time, he proved he could also compete against experienced professionals. 

During 2025, Zheng built an impressive 24-7 record on the ATP Challenger Tour and collected three Challenger titles. One of his biggest moments came in Chicago, where he made full use of an ATP Next Gen Accelerator opportunity. Starting the tournament ranked outside the world’s top 400, he surprised many by lifting the trophy. 

His confidence continued to grow as he added two more Challenger titles in Columbus and Tiburon before the end of the season. He is currently ranked No. 182 in the PIF ATP rankings.  

Nicolai Budkov Kjaer 

Norway’s Nicolai Budkov Kjaer continues to develop into one of the brightest teenage talents in men’s tennis. Still only 19 years old, he enjoyed a fantastic 2025 season that included four ATP Challenger titles, placing him among the most successful players on the Challenger circuit. 

His strong performances also earned him a place at the Next Gen ATP Finals, where he reached the semi-finals against many of the world’s best young players. 

Budkov Kjaer claimed his first Challenger trophy in Glasgow before adding more titles in his name. Those victories also made him the youngest Norwegian player to win multiple Challenger titles. 

The former Wimbledon boys’ singles champion enters 2026 ranked No. 135 in the world and looks well positioned to continue climbing the rankings.

Rafael Jodar 

Few players finished 2025 with more momentum than Spain’s Rafael Jodar. His rapid rise came late in the season, but it was enough to turn plenty of heads across the tennis world. 

Jodar started the Hersonissos Challenger ranked outside the world’s top 500 and only entered the main draw as an alternate. Despite that, he produced an outstanding week to win the tournament, collecting his first Challenger title in only his ninth appearance at that level. 

His success did not stop there. Within weeks, he added titles in Lincoln and Charlottesville, completing three Challenger victories in just a few months. 

Those impressive results earned him a place at the Next Gen ATP Finals, where he picked up two group-stage wins. He begins 2026 with a career-high ranking of No. 165 and plenty of confidence. 

Federico Cina 

Italy has produced several exciting young tennis stars in recent years, and Federico Cina looks ready to follow in their footsteps. Although the 18-year-old is still waiting for his first ATP Challenger title, his performances during 2025 showed that it may only be a matter of time before that breakthrough arrives. 

Cina reached three Challenger finals during the season and consistently challenged experienced opponents. One of his most memorable matches came against fellow young star Justin Engel in a final that became the youngest Challenger championship match seen in more than two decades. 

With another season of experience behind him, Cina will be aiming to win his first Challenger title while also securing a place at the 2026 Next Gen ATP Finals.

Elmer Moller 

Denmark’s Elmer Moller heads into 2026 carrying plenty of confidence after an excellent finish to last season. Known for his powerful backhand and aggressive style of play, Moller enjoyed the best year of his career during 2025.  

A 22-year-old claimed three ATP Challenger titles and reached four finals, proving he can compete consistently across different conditions. His victories came in Oeiras, Iasi, and Maia, with the final tournament of the season giving him the perfect way to end the year.  

Those title wins pushed him to No. 119 in the ATP Rankings, placing him within touching distance of a Top 100 debut.
