The São Paulo Grand Prix is about to get underway, and there is still plenty to look forward to for the remainder of the season.

Kimi Antonelli has already made history by becoming the youngest Drivers’ Champion in F1 history after finishing third in Mexico last weekend. But let’s not forget that there’s a whole other championship still up for grabs, and Mercedes could potentially secure the Constructors’ title at Interlagos this weekend.

There’s also been a switch up in the grid this weekend, offering a special moment for Brazilian motorsport fans. Rafael Camara will make his Formula 1 debut with Haas this weekend, replacing Esteban Ocon for the remainder of the season. The 21-year-old is currently leading the Formula 2 Championship and will get his first taste of F1 racing in front of his home crowd.

Then there’s Ferrari, where tensions between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have been making headlines following their incident in Mexico. Can the team put that behind them and challenge for another strong result?

Interlagos is also famous for producing unpredictable races, particularly when the weather turns. With rain expected to be a possibility throughout the weekend, we could be in for another dramatic race.

Previous Race: What Happened at the Mexico City Grand Prix?

Max Verstappen continued his impressive late-season run with another victory at the Mexico City Grand Prix, but the biggest story of the weekend was Kimi Antonelli finally securing the Drivers’ Championship.

Verstappen started fifth and worked his way to the front after an opening-lap battle between Ferrari teammates Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc opened the door for Red Bull. He eventually held off Hamilton to take the win by just 0.799 seconds.

Hamilton finished second for Ferrari, with Antonelli completing the podium in third. Charles Leclerc came home fourth, followed by Lando Norris in fifth and George Russell in sixth.

The race wasn’t without drama. A heavy crash for Valtteri Bottas brought out the red flag, while a late Safety Car followed an incident involving Arvid Lindblad.

But the real celebrations belonged to Antonelli. His third-place finish was enough to secure the championship with four rounds remaining, making him the youngest World Champion in F1 history at just 20 years old.

Key Storylines and Considerations Heading Into the Weekend

Kimi Antonelli Wins the Drivers’ Championship: Constructors’ Battle Continues

Kimi Antonelli has officially been crowned the 2026 Formula 1 Drivers’ Champion. After an incredible season with Mercedes, the Italian has secured his first title and taken Sebastian Vettel’s record as the youngest World Champion in F1 history.

But Mercedes isn’t finished celebrating just yet. The team currently leads the Constructors’ Championship with 630 points, while Ferrari sits second on 504. Red Bull is third on 382, followed by McLaren on 365.

That leaves Mercedes with a 126-point advantage over Ferrari, and the Constructors’ Championship could also be decided this weekend.

In fact, Mercedes only needs to outscore Ferrari by three points or more in São Paulo to secure the title. Even if the team doesn’t get the job done in Brazil, it will still have opportunities in Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

For Antonelli, this means he can race without the pressure of a championship fight hanging over him. But he’ll still be keen to help Mercedes secure the other title and finish the season as strongly as possible.

Rafael Camara Replaces Esteban Ocon at Haas F1 Team

There’s a major driver change heading into this weekend, and it’s a particularly exciting one for Brazilian fans.

Haas has confirmed that Esteban Ocon will no longer compete for the team during the remainder of the 2026 season. In his place, Brazilian youngster Rafael Camara will make his Formula 1 debut at his home Grand Prix.

Camara is currently leading the Formula 2 Championship and has already secured a full-time Haas seat for 2027. The team has decided to bring his debut forward, giving him an opportunity to gain some experience before next season.

The 21-year-old is also part of the Ferrari Driver Academy and has already impressed in junior categories, winning both the Formula Regional European Championship and Formula 3 titles.

His arrival comes at an interesting time for Haas. The team has struggled for consistency this season, but Ollie Bearman has managed to secure some valuable points. Camara will have a lot to learn, particularly with no previous F1 race experience, but he has shown plenty of potential.

And what better place to make your debut than in front of your home crowd? The Brazilian fans will certainly be hoping he can deliver something special.

Tensions at Ferrari Escalate

Ferrari has another challenge to deal with this weekend, and it has nothing to do with the car.

The team’s two drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, were involved in a controversial battle for the lead during the opening lap of the Mexico City Grand Prix.

Both drivers ran wide while fighting for position, but Leclerc gained an advantage by cutting across the grass and staying ahead. He eventually received a five-second penalty, although Hamilton was understandably frustrated with how the situation was handled.

The incident allowed Max Verstappen to move between the two Ferraris and take advantage of the confusion. Hamilton later recovered to finish second, while Leclerc settled for fourth.

Hamilton wasn’t particularly happy afterwards, suggesting that the team needed to have some serious conversations behind closed doors. Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur also expressed his frustration, stressing the importance of respect between teammates and towards the wider team.

This is particularly frustrating for Ferrari because the car had shown enough pace to potentially secure a one-two finish in Mexico.

Drivers to Watch

Kimi Antonelli

He might be able to take things easy this weekend with the title secured, but he will undoubtedly be wanting to continue his good run of form. Plus, Kimi will be wanting to focus on helping Mercedes secure the Constructors’ Championship this weekend.

Max Verstappen

Verstappen seems to be on a roll lately, and he won’t be stopping now. Despite issues in practice sessions, he always manages to have an impressive race. And with the possibility of unpredictable weather, he’s set to take advantage of it and get give a good performance.

Rafael Camara

It goes without saying that it’s worth keeping an eye on the newcomer of the weekend. It’s his debut F1 race, his home Grand Prix, and he’s coming off the back of leading the F2 Championship. Camara is looking to put on a strong performance for Haas.

São Paulo Grand Prix Betting Tips

Race Winner

Max Verstappen

Verstappen has been on a good run of form recently, with improvements to the Redbull showing each race weekend. Despite occasional complaints, the driver always manages to secure a good result, whether by qualifying high or taking advantage of on-track chaos. We think this weekend will be no different.

Best Value Bet

Constructors’ Winners – Mercedes

Mercedes only needs to outscore Ferrari by three points this weekend to secure the Constructors’ title, and that seems more than likely, if not certain. Their 126-point lead will give them more than enough confidence heading into the weekend, especially off the back of Kimi Antonelli’s championship win.
