Spurs defeat the defending champions ahead of the NBA Finals

The San Antonio Spurs are back in the NBA Finals after edging the Oklahoma City Thunder 111–103 in a tense Game 7. The Spurs book their first Finals appearance since 2014 and will now face the New York Knicks in the championship series starting Thursday.

SPURS win the Western Conference Finals

The San Antonio Spurs are through to the NBA Finals after defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals on Saturday.  

Playing in their home court, the Spurs held their nerve in a tight contest and came out on top with a 111–103 victory. It was a hard-fought game from start to finish, with both teams battling for a place in the biggest series of the season.

This win seals the series for San Antonio and sends them to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014. For Spurs fans, it marks a long-awaited return to the championship stage. 

The Thunder pushed hard throughout the series but fell just short in the deciding game. Despite the loss, they exit after a strong playoff run that highlighted the league’s next generation of talent. 

The Spurs will now prepare for a showdown with the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals, which begins on Thursday, 4 June. 

There will also be a new NBA champion this season, as the title will once again change hands for the eighth year in a row. This continues as a rare and unpredictable stretch in league history.
