Kaizer Chiefs’ Ben Youssef Praises Morris After Match-Winning Impact

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef has applauded striker Tashreeq Morris following his crucial contribution in Chiefs’ latest Betway Premiership victory.

Morris made his first PSL appearance of the season as a late substitute and immediately made his presence felt by scoring his maiden goal for Amakhosi.

The experienced forward found space at the back post in the 86th minute and calmly finished a cross delivered by Glody Lilepo to hand Chiefs the lead.

Chiefs wrapped up the win during stoppage time when substitute Mfundo Vilakazi converted from the penalty spot after Lilepo was brought down inside the box.

The victory secured all three points for Amakhosi and also guaranteed their return to continental competition. Chiefs booked a place in the CAF Confederation Cup for the 2026/27 season after reaching 51 league points, their highest tally in six years.

Speaking after the match, Ben Youssef said Morris’ appearance was the result of hard work and careful preparation behind the scenes.

“Morris is part of our squad and has been working tirelessly during training sessions. We waited for the perfect opportunity to introduce him, and we believed this was the right moment,” said Ben Youssef.

He also highlighted the collective effort from the club’s technical and fitness departments in preparing the striker for his opportunity.

“We made him understand how important this game was. A lot of people worked hard behind the scenes to get him ready,” he added.

“I also want to thank the fitness staff and the technical team, including coach Dillon and Nathi, for their contribution in helping prepare him.”

Chiefs will now turn their attention to their remaining fixtures, starting with an away clash against AmaZulu FC in KwaZulu-Natal before finishing the season at home against Chippa United.
