Middendorp attended the match and noted that while the PSL debutants started brightly, they were unable to maintain the intensity.

The match ended 3-1 in favour of Amakhosi. Orbit College took the lead in the 21st minute through Mbulelo Wagaba. Wandile Duba equalised just before half-time, while Mduduzi Shabalala and Siphesihle Ndlovu sealed the win in the second half.
“I saw Orbit College take on Kaizer Chiefs on Monday in Port Elizabeth, where I’m coming from. The first 30 minutes were good, they could keep up – but I was really disappointed in terms of the pace and conditioning. They were totally overpowered, and after 35 minutes, the game for Orbit was done,” said Ernst Middendorp, speaking on the Car Wash podcast.
Middendorp criticizes dull Chippa vs Siwelele encounter
The German tactician also reflected on another fixture involving Chippa United and Siwelele, which he attended the following day.
“I also saw Chippa United against Siwelele (on Tuesday, 07 April). I left after 30 minutes because I predicted it would end 0-0. It looked like nobody wanted to hurt anyone, both teams came with a mindset not to concede. It was a very different atmosphere compared to Monday’s game. It wasn’t an atmosphere that made you want to stay,” he added.
However, Chippa United went on to win the match 1-0, thanks to an in-form Sinoxolo Kwayiba, who has now scored six goals since returning from Orlando Pirates in January.
Middendorp’s views highlights how Chiefs have been consistent recently while United are slowly coming out of relegation zone.
