Everton vs Liverpool – Preview, Predictions and Best Bets

Everton face Liverpool in the English Premier League on Sunday.

The Toffees can go just two points off the Reds with a victory in this one. Liverpool have lost four of their last five matches.

Everton Form

Everton have won five of their last 11 league fixtures. They sit a point behind Chelsea and five points off Liverpool in the race for European football. A win here puts them into the race for a Champions League place. A 2-1 win at Fulham made it four matches unbeaten. They lost 2-1 at home to Bournemouth and 1-0 at home to Man Utd after that.

A 3-2 win at Newcastle was a superb result and they beat Burnley 2-0 at home. They lost 2-0 away to Arsenal after conceding 25 shots but only conceding two late goals. They beat Chelsea 3-0 with just 36% of the ball before a 2-2 draw at Brentford. Despite conceding 2.84 xG, they scored in the 91st minute to rescue a point.

Everton Team News

Jack Grealish is ruled out for the rest of the season. Carlos Alcaraz is set for a late fitness test to determine if he can play some part.

David Moyes has a settled XI now that Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski are both available again. Beto will lead the line ahead of Thierno Barry.

Everton Motivation

Everton are playing well and will be hugely motivated for this match. A win takes them two points off Liverpool.

Moyes’ side will not look to keep possession. A compact shape will be used and they will focus on fast counters and set-pieces.

Liverpool Form

Liverpool have lost four of their last five matches and six of their last 10. They look devoid of confidence and structure at the moment. A 1-0 loss followed away to Galatasaray in the Champions League was followed by a 1-1 home draw vs Tottenham as they conceded late. The Reds beat Galatasaray 4-0 for a 4-1 aggregate win.

They lost 2-1 at Brighton before being humiliated 4-0 by Man City in the FA Cup. A 2-0 first leg loss to PSG saw a one-sided as they were outshot 18-3. They beat Fulham 2-0 last weekend but lost 2-0 at home to PSG in midweek. Liverpool had 21 shots and made a good fist of turning around the tie.

Liverpool Team News

Alisson is injured in goal and Joe Gomez misses out in defence. Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni will play no part at the back either.

Wataru Enzo is injured in midfield, but the big blow is to Hugo Ekitike. A serious Achilles injury means he could be missing for until 2027. Alexander Isak could lead the line, or Cody Gakpo may play as a false nine.

Liverpool Motivation

Liverpool need a result here. A draw would be reasonable to keep a gap to Chelsea and Everton below them.

Arne Slot will play a compact setup, possibly using a midfield diamond.
