Wolves face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Wolves have won four of their last seven matches at Molineux against the Blues. Enzo Maresca’s side have lost three of their last five league matches.

Match: Wolves v Chelsea
When: Wednesday, 29 Oct 2025

Wolves Form

Wolves have lost 10 of their last 13 league matches. Their two wins in the Carabao Cup this term are their only victories this season. A 3-2 win over West Ham in this competition was followed by three straight EPL losses.

They beat Everton 2-0 at home in the last round of the Carabao Cup before two league draws. They took a point at Tottenham and at home to Brighton, having led 1-0 in both fixtures before leaking late goals. Their last two matches have ended in damaging losses to newly-promoted clubs. A 2-0 loss at Sunderland was followed by a 3-2 home loss to Burnley in the 95th minute.

Wolves Team News

Wolves have just one injury to deal with. Young forward Leon Chiwome is out for the rest of the season after a serious knee injury.

Vitor Pereira could consider some rotation to his XI. Joao Gomes and Hee-Chan Hwang are expected to start, whilst Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare may be handed an opportunity in place of Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Wolves Motivation

Wolves sit bottom of the Premier League table and that has to be their focus. However, a cup run can boost confidence and give the team some momentum.

Pereira’s side doesn’t play defensively and have produced 9.20 xG this term, more than fourth-placed Sunderland. They will try to take the game to Chelsea in front of their own fans.

Chelsea Form

Chelsea have lost four of their last nine matches. In the league, it’s three losses in five as they fall further and further off leaders Arsenal. After losing 3-1 at Bayern Munich and 2-1 at Man Utd with ten men, they lost another league match, 3-1 at home to Brighton after another red card.

Four straight wins followed to end their rut. Chelsea beat Benfica 1-0 and scored in the dying embers to beat Liverpool 2-1 at home. A fortunate 3-0 win at Nottingham Forest preceded a straightforward 5-1 home win over an Ajax side playing with ten men for 75 minutes. On Saturday, a shock 2-1 home loss to Sunderland saw Chelsea produce a paltry 0.89 xG in a poor display.

Chelsea Team News

The Blues are without the injured Levi Colwill, Benoit Badiashile and Cole Palmer. Malo Gusto returns to the fold after suspension.

Enzo Maresca has Liam Delap available up front once again. The coach has hinted at resting Joao Pedro, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez for this match.

Chelsea Motivation

Chelsea are set to make at least seven or eight changes to the XI. They will try to win the match, but they can’t risk too many of their best XI ahead of a trip to Tottenham on Saturday.

The Blues will try to dominate the match and to attack Wolves. Once leading, they could sit back and use fast breaks.

Key Stats

  • Wolves have lost 10 of their last 13 EPL matches
  • Wolves have won 4 of their last 7 home matches vs Chelsea
  • Chelsea have won 20 of their last 27 matches
  • The Blues have lost 3 of their last 5 league matches

Verdict

Neither side is doing well in the league of late, making this cup match hard to predict. Chelsea may have just enough to progress with both teams on target.

Best Bet: Chelsea win at 1.65

Value Bet: Chelsea win and both teams to score at 2.95
