Siwelele Form

Siwelele sit 11th in the PSL table with 29 points, an eight-point gap to the drop zone. They’ve drawn a league-high 11 matches and have scored just 13 goals in 25 PSL matches. They’ve lost just two of their 12 home matches with a total of 14 goals in those fixtures (nine scored, five conceded). Their last 13 matches in all competitions have seen 10 draws, two wins and just one loss.

After grinding out a 1-1 draw at Orlando Pirates thanks to heroics by goalkeeper Ricardo Goss, they beat Orbit College 1-0 at home. A surprise 1-0 loss at Chippa United has been followed with three stalemates in a row. A 1-1 home draw vs AmaZulu was followed by a 0-0 home draw vs struggling Marumo Gallants. On Friday, they drew 0-0 at Golden Arrows in a solid display.

Siwelele Team News

Siwelele’s lineup is very difficult to predict. Coach Lehlohonolo Seema has made many changes to his XI in recent weeks. Striker Zakhele Lepasa and Samir Nurkovic are injured, whilst Chibuike Ohizu has missed the last couple of games.

Central midfielder Thato Letshedi will be absent as he serves the second match of his suspension. Tebogo Potsane was only used as a substitute on Friday and could return to the XI. Nyiko Mobbie is set to play in central defence once again.

Siwelele Motivation

Siwelele are a defensive side, that don’t look to keep possession. They will sit back and use fast counters through their pacey front four.

A draw here would be a very good result. It would take them to 30 points, the traditional points haul needed to guarantee safety.

Kaizer Chiefs Form

Chiefs were on a run of five losses in six matches in all competitions. With pressure mounting on their co-coaches, they responded with five straight victories in the league. A 1-0 win at Durban City preceded a 2-0 home win vs Magesi. They beat Orbit College 3-1 with 74% possession and some fine team goals.

A 2-0 home win vs TS Galaxy was followed by a 4-1 win at Magesi. The winning streak was ended by a 0-0 away draw at Polokwane City as creativity was lacking. On Sunday, they nullified Orlando Pirates well in a 1-1 draw. Chiefs led 1-0 but could not hold on for the victory.

Kaizer Chiefs Team News

Chiefs are without midfielder George Matlou and target man Etiosa Ighodaro. Rushwin Dortley is still making his way back from a long-term knee injury.

In defence, Zitha Kwinika is carrying an injury. Given Msimango has been preferred to Inacio Miguel is some recent matches, but the latter could rotate into the XI here. There could be one or two other changes to add fresh legs to the side.

Kaizer Chiefs Motivation

Amakhosi look set to finish third in the table. They will go to Siwelele and look to win the match in order to keep their lead over fourth-placed AmaZulu.

Chiefs won’t play an open game and will focus on a clean sheet. They know they could have 65% of the ball here, and will need to guile to break down their opponents.

Key Stats

  • Siwelele have drawn 10 of their last 13 matches (1 loss, 2 wins)
  • Siwelele have failed to score in 3 of their last 4 fixtures
  • Chiefs have lost 3 of their last 6 matches away from FNB Stadium
  • Chiefs have won 5 of their last 7 matches

Verdict

The hosts barely score goals. I see Chiefs keeping a clean sheet in a low-scoring match.

Alternative Bet: Kaizer Chiefs win at 2.18

Correct Score Bet: Siwelele 0-1 Kaizer Chiefs at 4.33
