The 300th goal of the PSL league season was scored during the week, yet another milestone in what has been an exciting campaign. Teams will be chasing more goals in the seven games scheduled this weekend. Stellenbosch and TS Galaxy kick things off on Friday evening, before five fixtures fill up the Saturday programme, including Orlando Pirates’ continued title quest. On Sunday, Kaizer Chiefs host Durban City in the only game of the day. Our Betting Notebook brings you all the statistical angles you may need.
Friday: Stellenbosch (9th) v TS Galaxy (8th)
These teams meet on Friday evening, separated by just one place and one point on the table. In the race for Top 8, this could be classified as a six-pointer. Since their CAF elimination, Stellies have begun to resemble the team that finished third in the league last season. They are unbeaten in five league games, a record bettered by only Sundowns and Siwelele at present. TS Galaxy, on the other hand, have done well in the Cups, reaching the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup, while taking a hit in the league (they are on an all-time five-match losing run). All this feeds into the odds, which understandably favour Stellies. At 2/1, Stellies are priced to win, while the current offer is a 400% return on the away win. Given Galaxy’s away form, that seems unlikely.
1 – Galaxy have won just one of their last 10 away games, drawing three and losing the other six since September.

Saturday: Orlando Pirates (1st) v Siwelele (11th)
League leaders Orlando Pirates host Siwelele on Saturday afternoon, looking to create some breathing room between them and Sundowns at the top. Only goal difference separates them from the defending champions in the title race, and a straightforward Saturday afternoon home win will go a long way in helping their cause. Yet, Siwelele will not be an easy touch for them. They are neither vying for a CAF place nor fighting relegation, but it’s worth noting that they are a team in form. Only Sundowns (11) are currently on a longer unbeaten run than Siwelele (6), although five games have been draws. Odds imply Pirates have a 75% chance of winning, which is plausible given their excellent home form.
8 – Pirates have won eight of their last nine home league games, keeping a clean sheet in all eight wins.

Sunday: Kaizer Chiefs (6th) v Durban City (4th)
The pressure continues to mount on Kaizer Chiefs, who are on a downward spiral in results. Four consecutive losses (three of them in the league) have seen them slide down the table to sixth. Their job this weekend is simple – to end that alarming run. Yet, they come up against a stubborn, well-organised Durban City that recently reached the Nedbank Cup semi-finals. The return fixture between these teams was a tight affair, that Chiefs only won in the 88th minute, and we can expect a similar situation on Sunday afternoon. While Chiefs haven’t kept a clean sheet in six games, their struggles have mostly been in front of goal. All season, they’ve scored Over 1.5 goals in just two games (out of 18), and even that was against a leaky Orbit College and Stellenbosch on opening day.
5 – In 30 years of the PSL era, Kaizer Chiefs have never lost five games in a row across competitions.
