Two PSL games are scheduled for the week, as a memorable season reaches its climax. With Orlando Pirates and Sundowns both drawing over the weekend, the title race remains on a knife’s edge. Sundowns travel to Polokwane City looking to get back to winning ways, and to reclaim their position at the top of the table. Two consecutive 0-0 draws is a rare occurrence for them, and Coach Miguel Cardoso will be keen to fix that as soon as possible. At the same time, Kaizer Chiefs will face Siwelele away from home, aiming to strengthen their hold on the final CAF spot. Our Betting Notebook brings the statistical context behind these games.
Polokwane City (6th) v Sundowns (2nd)
This will be the first game of a crucial double header between the two sides. Following back-to-back draws against Stellenbosch and Richards Bay, Sundowns can not afford to drop more points with games running out. Of Sundowns’ five remaining games, the trip to Polokwane City is one of the hardest. With three home games to follow, a result tonight will be a massive statement towards reclaiming the title. At 1.6/1, Sundowns are seen as 65% likely winners, but it will not be a straightforward game. City have won just once at home this year, but the 0-0 draw with Chiefs and last minute defeat at the hands of Pirates show that they can raise their game for the big occasion. Last season, they beat Sundowns in this equivalent fixture, so there is some hope they can get something out of this one.
2 – Sundowns have drawn their last two league games. They’ve never failed to win three in a row under Miguel Cardoso.

Siwelele (11th) v Kaizer Chiefs (3rd)
A few days after the exhilarating Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs make the short trip to Bloemfontein to take on Siwelele FC. This will be Chiefs’ fourth away game in a row, part of an uncommon seven-game away series. Having drawn the last two, they need a good result here to re-establish themselves in pole position for the final CAF spot. That said, Siwele will not be pushovers, especially at home. This will be their 10th home game in all competitions since the start of September, and they have only lost one of these in regulation time (D4 L5). At 3.4/1, the odds imply a 29% chance for a home win, but Chiefs are favourites with a 45% chance of winning. That leaves the draw at 35% as a really tempting option for a punt. After all, the teams drew their reverse fixture 0-0.
11 – Siwelele have drawn 11 games this season, more than any other team.
