US Open Men’s Semi-Finals Previews

The US Open men’s draw has reached the semi-finals, with the remaining players vying for glory. World No. 1 Jannik Sinner is in the form of his life as he prepares to face Felix Auger-Aliassime for a spot in the final.

Meanwhile, Novak Djoković will clash with Carlos Alcaraz in a highly anticipated semi-final match. Let’s dive into the previews.

Jannik Sinner vs. Felix Auger-Aliassime

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner continued his quest to defend the US Open title with an impressive display of tennis, defeating Lorenzo Musetti 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in the quarter-finals, setting up a clash with Felix Auger-Aliassime. This match marks the first time in Grand Slam history that two Italian men have met in the quarter-finals. The top-seeded player did not face any significant challenges, finishing the match in just two hours.

The 24-year-old Sinner is in remarkable form, having dropped only 38 games on his way to the semi-finals, the second-fewest by a man reaching this stage since the 2020 US Open. This victory also marked his 26th consecutive win at a major tournament played on hard courts, where he has secured two Australian Open titles and one US Open trophy.

Sinner is chasing his third Grand Slam title of the year after his victories at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. His impressive 94% winning rate on hard courts makes him a strong favorite to advance past Auger-Aliassime.

This will be the Canadian’s first Grand Slam semi-final appearance, and he hopes that history will be on his side, as he has beaten Sinner in two of their last three matches. The pair faced off last month at the Cincinnati Masters, with Sinner emerging victorious.

Novak Djoković vs. Carlos Alcaraz

The stage is set as Carlos Alcaraz renews his rivalry with Novak Djoković in the US Open semi-finals. In 2025, Djoković managed to reach the semi-finals of all three Grand Slams—Australian, French, and Wimbledon—but failed to progress to the finals. The 38-year-old Serbian will want to put that disappointment behind him in his bid to reach a major final for the first time since 2023 at the US Open.

The two elite players met earlier this year in the Australian Open quarter-finals, with Djoković winning in a thrilling four-set match. He has faced challenges in New York, particularly during a match against Jan-Lennard Struff in the round of 16. However, he rebounded strongly to defeat last year’s semi-finalist, Taylor Fritz, convincingly.

A tough test awaits as he faces Alcaraz, who has been in excellent form throughout the tournament, yet to drop a set in his first five matches. The 22-year-old Spaniard is aiming to win the tournament for the second time in his career, having won it previously in 2022.

Overall, Djoković leads their head-to-head series 5-3 since their first meeting three years ago. Whichever player emerges victorious will be in a strong position for the title. There is no doubt that fans will be treated to a thrilling match.
