PSL Players: Rumours, Transfers and Available Free Agents

The PSL season finds itself in an unusual situation, with several teams having already wrapped up their campaigns while Orlando Pirates, Magesi FC, Lamontville Golden Arrows, and SuperSport United are set to finish their season on Wednesday and Thursday.

The end of each campaign brings the familiar cycle of contract expirations, creating a pool of experienced professionals and emerging talents who are without clubs or else players wanted by other clubs. Over this two-part analysis, we examine the most compelling available players and evaluate their credentials through a statistical lens.

Nkosana Ndaba

Ndaba has reportedly signed with Orlando Pirates ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. He had an increase in playing time this season up two league matches to 17 from the 2023/24 campaign. More regular game time has enhanced his output suggesting he’s become a confident player who flourishes with consistent opportunities, positioning him as an appealing target for clubs prepared to invest in his continued progression.

The statistical evidence reveals Ndaba has matured into a versatile attack-minded full-back with significant influence in the attacking third. His ability to stretch play wide, provide dangerous crosses, and create scoring opportunities for teammates showcases his offensive evolution while retaining his core defensive duties.

His enhanced passing range and distribution capabilities indicate comfort in building attacks from deep positions and executing tactical switches of play, making him well-suited to teams employing possession-heavy systems.

Kamohelo Mkotjo

Mokotjo is now 34 years of age and was recently let go by Cape Town City FC. His heavy involvement in possession with high touches and pass attempts, especially long-range passing efforts suggests a player able to pass into forward channels. His limited game time at CT City showed no real threat in chances created, final third entries or touches in the opposition box indicating a more deep-lying profile.

For a struggling Cape Town City side that desperately needed players capable of both winning possession and creating opportunities, Mokotjo’s profile as a high-volume, low-impact player who offered a different style may have represented a tactical mismatch that likely contributed to their disappointing campaign.

However, Mokotjo could find renewed purpose with a team that employs a more direct, long-range passing approach or relies heavily on counter-attacking football. His ability to spray passes into forward channels and distribute from deep positions could prove valuable for sides looking to bypass midfield congestion and quickly transition from defense to attack.

Knox Muthizwa

Knox Mutizwa has been a reliable PSL striker since he arrived at Bidvest Wits in 2016. He has previously been an efficient, goal-focused forward who positions himself well inside the area and converts chances at a decent rate (0.36 goals per game). His 2024/25 radar tells a slightly different story from previous seasons, his relatively low box touches and final third entries suggest he may have been underserved by his teammates or playing in a system that did not maximize his strengths.

His limited overall involvement in play – with just 33 touches and 19 passes per game – indicated a type of striker who conserved energy for key moments rather than dropping deep or contributing to possession play. While he showed decent creativity for teammates when he did get involved, his profile suggests a somewhat isolated striker who could be more effective with better service, making him potentially valuable for teams that can provide consistent delivery into the box and utilize his poaching instincts more effectively.
