World Cup Preview: Tunisia vs Netherlands

The Netherlands face Tunisia in their World Cup final Group F match knowing a big win could help them secure top spot. With Tunisia already eliminated and struggling defensively throughout the tournament, the Dutch will be confident of claiming all three points.

Tunisia vs Netherlands

Tunisia is going head-to-head with Netherlands in the World Cup group F clash. Although Tunisia is already eliminated, but Netherlands is aiming to wrap up the top spot.

We can say that Netherlands have a spot in the knockout rounds, with four points accumulated when they played against Japan and Sweden. It is also important to note that mathematically, their place is not yet confirmed.

Netherlands

Netherlands are fighting for first place in group F, and this looks like an easy pass seeing that Tunisia is already out of the competition. The Dutch have been doing well in their past two fixtures of the group stages especially after that 5 – 1 win over Sweden.

With goal difference potentially playing a big role, the Netherlands know they need a convincing win over Tunisia in their final World Cup group match. After already scoring seven goals in the tournament, Netherlands would want to add even more.

Brian Brobbey is expected to keep his place up front after scoring twice against Sweden. Meanwhile, Crysencio Summerville could earn a starting spot on the right wing after making a strong impact from the bench and finding the net against Japan.

Ronald Koeman is likely to stick with the same team that comfortably beat Sweden. Although the Netherlands have plenty of quality at the back, they are still searching for their first clean sheet of the tournament. In fact, they have conceded at least one goal in each of their last six matches.

Tunisia

Tunisia have struggled badly in this tournament, conceding nine goals in heavy defeats. Their disappointing campaign even led to their management change. Hervé Renard replaced Sabri Lamouchi after the opening loss to Sweden, but the switch has not improved results so far.

Renard may continue with a 3-4-2-1 formation in an attempt to contain the dangerous attack from Netherlands, even though the same system saw Tunisia concede four goals against Japan.

There could be changes in attack, with Ismaël Gharbi likely to replace Elias Saad and Firas Chaouat expected to come in for Sebastian Tounekti as the team’s main striker. Tunisia has no injury concerns, but Renard is still working with a squad that lacks depth and quality in several areas.

What’s at stake

The Netherlands only need a draw to secure their place in the top two and qualify for the next round. However, if they want to finish top of Group F, they may need more than just a win.

Japan is level with the Dutch after the two sides drew earlier in the tournament, meaning goal difference could be the deciding factor in the battle for first place. The Netherlands will therefore be aiming for a strong performance while also keeping an eye on Japan’s result against Sweden.

After a disappointing display against Japan, the Dutch bounced back in style with a dominant 5-0 victory over Sweden.  They are expected to play with the same attacking intent in this final group match.

Tunisia, meanwhile, can no longer qualify for the next round. Even so, they will be determined to end their campaign on a positive note and fight for at least one point to restore their dignity.

Players to watch

  • Brian Brobbey – Netherlands

Brobbey made a huge impact after coming into the starting lineup, scoring twice in the 5-1 win over Sweden and brings a physical presence that makes life difficult for defenders He’s also good in helping players around him, including Cody Gakpo, who got more involved in attack.

  • Cody Gakpo Netherlands

Gakpo remains one of the Dutch team’s biggest attacking threats. His movement, creativity and finishing ability make him dangerous whenever he gets space around the box. He will be looking to add to his goal contributions and help the Netherlands secure top spot in the group.

Predictions

With top spot in Group F still within reach, the Dutch are expected to attack from the first whistle and look to improve their goal difference. Tunisia have already been eliminated after conceding nine goals in their first two matches and have struggled at both ends of the pitch.

While they will be eager to end their campaign with pride, they may find it difficult to match Netherlands with their confidence and attacking quality. Expect the Netherlands to dominate possession, create plenty of chances and secure a convincing win. Bet on 2026 World Cup tournament with Bet.co.za, and stay on top of the game.
