Spain leads the way at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Awards 

The FIFA World Cup 2026 ended with Spain lifting the trophy and celebrating a tournament to remember. After winning their second FIFA World Cup title, several Spanish stars were recognised for their outstanding performances with the tournament’s biggest individual awards. 

Rodri, Pau Cubarsi and Unai Simon all received major honours after helping Spain dominate from the group stage to the final. France forward Kylian Mbappe also earned one of the tournament’s top awards after another incredible goalscoring campaign. 

Here’s a closer look at the FIFA World Cup award winners. 

Rodri Wins the Adidas Golden Ball 

Spain midfielder Rodri was named the winner of the Adidas Golden Ball, awarded to the best player of the tournament. 

Rodri controlled the midfield throughout Spain’s eight matches, showing excellent passing, leadership and composure under pressure. His performances helped Spain stay in control of games and play the style of football that led them all the way to the title. 

Winning the Golden Ball capped off an excellent World Cup for the midfielder, who played a key role in Spain becoming world champions once again.  

Kylian Mbappé Claims the adidas Golden Boot 

France captain Kylian Mbappé finished the tournament as the top goalscorer and received the Adidas Golden Boot. 

Mbappe scored an impressive 10 goals in eight matches, once again proving why he is one of the best forwards in world football. Although France missed out on reaching a third straight FIFA World Cup final, Mbappe’s finishing and attacking quality stood out throughout the competition. 

His Golden Boot adds another major achievement to an already remarkable international career.

Unai Simon Takes Home the adidas Golden Glove 

Spain’s goalkeeper Unai Simón won the Adidas Golden Glove after an outstanding tournament between the posts. 

Simon kept seven clean sheets in eight matches, including Spain’s 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina in the final. His quick reactions, confident handling and important saves gave Spain a solid foundation throughout the competition. 

Conceding just one goal across the entire tournament highlights just how strong Spain’s defence was. 

Pau Cubarsi Named FIFA Best Young Player 

Young defender Pau Cubarsi received the FIFA Best Young Player Award, presented by Aramco. 

Cubarsi continued his rapid rise by becoming one of Spain’s most reliable defenders during the tournament. Despite his young age, he played with confidence and maturity against some of the world’s best attackers. 

Spain’s defence allowed only one goal in the entire tournament, and Cubarsi played a major part in that impressive record.
