Match: Aston Villa v Arsenal
When: Saturday, 06 Dec 2025

Aston Villa Form

Villa are flying right now. After a six-match winless streak to start this season, they have won 12 of their last 14 matches. They beat Man City 1-0 at home before losing 2-0 at Liverpool. Since then, they’ve won six straight matches. A 2-0 home win over Maccabi Tel-Aviv preceded a 4-0 home thrashing of Bournemouth.

Aston Villa went to Leeds and won 2-1, before a dominant 2-1 home win over Young Boys in the Champions League. They edged Wolves 1-0 at home before a superb comeback victory in midweek. Having trailed 2-0, they fought back to win 4-3 at Brighton. That win took them to third in the table.

Aston Villa Team News

Ross Barkley and Tyrone Mings are ruled out in midfield and defence, respectively. Emi Martinez missed the midweek match with a back complaint, so Marco Bizot is on standby to deputise in goal.

Donyell Malen and Emi Buendia are options to freshen up the attack. The former has six goals in his last eight matches, whilst the latter has impressed when called upon.

Aston Villa Motivation

Villa will come into this match with designs on beating Arsenal. They have taken three points off Arteta in some recent meetings and will have confidence of a repeat.

Unai Emery’s side will keep it tight and won’t be overly bothered about possession numbers, even at home.

Arsenal Form

Arsenal are overwhelming favourites to lift the title. They’ve won 13 of their last 15 matches in all competitions with two draws. They won 2-0 at Burnley and 3-0 at Slavia Prague in two professional performances. A surprise 2-2 draw at Sunderland saw a late goal conceded.

The Gunners thrashed Tottenham 4-1 before beating Bayern Munich 3-1 in the Champions League. They could only draw 1-1 at ten-man Chelsea but they bounced back to beat Brentford 2-0 in midweek.

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal face an injury crisis at the back. Gabriel is out, William Saliba is doubtful and Cristhian Mosquera was injured against Brentford. Piero Hincapie could be partnered by Ben White in this one.

Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard are still out injured and Viktor Gyokeres is being eased back to full match fitness. Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka should return to the starting XI, and Declan Rice could be rested as he nurses a knock.

Arsenal Motivation

The Gunners will play to win this match. Fatigue is taking its toll so any sort of victory would be accepted.

Arteta could be quite pragmatic to protect his heavily changed back four. He will also want to conserve energy in his team’s tired legs.

Key Stats

  • Aston Villa have won their last 6 matches
  • Villa have beaten Arsenal in 5 of their last 11 meetings
  • Arsenal have won 13 of their last 15 matches
  • Arsenal have conceded in 4 of their last 5 matches

Verdict

This is set to be a very tight game. Arsenal are weakened at the back and are showing signs of fatigue. Villa look good value to avoid defeat.

Best Bet: Draw at 3.35

Alternate Bet: Aston Villa win/draw double chance + Under 3.5 goals at 2.35
