T20 World Cup Betting Preview: India vs England

India hopes to reach its second consecutive T20 World Cup final but will have to overcome two-time champions England in Mumbai.

India and England will meet for their third consecutive time at this stage of the tournament. According to Gulf News, in the past two World Cups, the winner of this clash has become the T20 champions.

Both teams have only one defeat to their name at the tournament, India start as favourites due to home ground advantage. The co-hosts were beaten by South Africa in the Super 8s, while England has won five of their last matches in the competition. At 2.75, England offers good value as the underdogs.

India vs England

A high-scoring encounter is likely owing to the quality of both batting line-ups. Adding to the argument is that Wankhede is typically batting-friendly, and the dew makes second-innings scoring easier.

Suryakumar Yadav (231 runs) and Harry Brook (228) are India and England’s best-performing batters in the tournament.

The home side’s strengths lie in in-form players like Sanju Samson, the right-hander, who hit an unbeaten 97 from 50 balls to propel India into the last four.

On the bowling front, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh perform well in Indian conditions. But India’s weapon is Varun Chakaravarthy, the spinner, who has picked up 12 wickets in the tournament.

England’s unbeaten run into the knockouts shows consistent form. Their bowling attack is spearheaded by Jofra Archer, who can be a game-changer in the powerplay.

The two-time champions will need to restrict run-scoring early and build pressure on the home team. They certainly can cause an upset at bigger odds. The English have an aggressive white-ball philosophy: they won’t hold back in a semi-final.

Prediction: India wins by 4–6 wickets or 10–15 runs.

Suggested Bet: Varun Chakravarthy to be the top Indian bowler.
