‘We have to be very strong in the way we approach every match’ – Mamelodi Sundowns’ Miguel Cardoso
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso says his side should remain disciplined despite having a five-points lead ahead of their rivals Orlando Pirates.
Sundows won comfortably by 3-0 over Polokwane City at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday just days after defeating the same opponents by 1-0 at Seshego Stadium.
The Brazlians are now three games away from clinching the league title for the nineth time in a row.
Speaking after the match against City, Cardoso emphasised that his team must not get carried away now that they are at the summit of the PSL league table.
“I think we need to collect all the points we have available to us,” the Downs mentor said.
“It’s a story to be written, and we have to do it in order to succeed 100%, so that we don’t depend on others, and we should not.
“We should just focus on ourselves. Matches like the ones we have been playing are on a high level, because we are in a moment where all the matches are at a high level and relate with the situation.
“There is a big beautiful, challenge ahead of us of course because it’s basically almost a week and a half and then everything will be finished. So, it looks like three matches but it’s a week and a half.
“We have to be very strong in the way we approach every match like we have been, and being quite consistent in showing that.”
Sundowns will play Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium with the kickoff schedule for 19:30.
