According to the Belgian publication Nieuwsblad, the club has tabled a lucrative four-year contract for the highly rated Bafana Bafana attacker, Relebohile Mofokeng, gesturing their confidence in his long-term potential.

Mofokeng has emerged as one of South Africa’s brightest young talents since breaking into the Pirates senior team in 2023 under coach Jose Riveiro. The 21-year-old has already made 125 appearances for the Buccaneers across all competitions, scoring 29 goals and providing 31 assists.

His performances have been instrumental in Pirates’ domestic success, helping the club win the Nedbank Cup twice, three MTN8 titles, the Carling Knockout Cup, and the league title.

His impressive club form earned him a senior Bafana Bafana call-up in 2024, and he has since made international appearances, including the World Cup tournament currently happening in North America. Mofokeng scored his first goal during South Africa’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign against Lesotho in March 2025.

Should the transfer materialise, Mofokeng will become the latest South African talent to test himself in Europe, with Royal Union Saint-Gilloise after Percey Tau offering him the perfect platform to continue his rapid development.
