PSL: ‘It’s clear that he is tired’ – Sundowns Miguel Cardoso on Ndamane
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Migeul Cardoso has opened up about defender Khulumani Ndamane challenge at the club revealing that the player is tired.
The 22-year-old was in the starting line-up when Sundowns claimed a historic victory in the PSL when they defeated Siwelele FC by 7-4 on Saturday at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.
The Brazilians started the game like a house on fire as they score five goals in the first half. The league defending champions went on to score two more goals in the second half.
However, despite their scoring spree the Tshwane giants had made errors in defence, leaking four goal which saw them conceding more than twice in a match in this season.
Bafana ba’Style they missed an opportunity to close the goals-difference gap on Orlando Pirates that could be the decider on the title race. The Soweto giants are seven goals ahead Downs.
In a match against Siwelele Ndamane’s name was at the centre stage as he gifted the visitors a goal after they pounced on his misplaced back-pass.
The Bafana Bafana international who joined Sundowns from TS Galaxy during the January transfer window has been making costly mistakes recently, as he conceded a penalty against Stellenbosch that saw the match ending 1-1 and Downs dropped two crucial points in that game.
However, Cardoso has shown his support towards the player after making errors.
“It’s clear that he (Ndamane) is tired. He is not so reactive, it’s true he’s tired,” Cardoso said.
“He’s the only left-footed centre-back we have, and we decided to play him again (against Siwelele).
“So, it’s clear that he’s tired, fatigue is not only physical, but also mental. The capacity to make tactical and technical decisions is delayed a bit.
“For example, today (Saturday), you look at the pass that gave the goal to the opponents, he was late on the decision, he could have made that decision quicker.
“So, that’s from the fatigue he accumulated, it’s something I have to take into consideration.”
Sundowns remain at the top of the table with 68 points, in second place is Pirates who have 65 points with a game in hand. Masandwana will play their last game of the season against Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga the kickoff is at 19:30
