Your betting guide to the Human Rights Day weekend
As the nation gears up to commemorate a significant public holiday, Human Rights Day, the never-ending PSL machine rolls on. Seven league games are lined up for this weekend, kicking off on Saturday afternoon. Kaizer Chiefs will be aiming to build on their narrow win when they host bottom-of-the-table Magesi, while Orlando Pirates face a tricky test in Mbombela when they travel to face TS Galaxy. Stellenbosch v Chippa United is the third selected match for our betting guide, which brings statistical context into the weekend.
Kaizer Chiefs (5th) v Magesi (16th)
A nervy 1-0 win over Durban City last weekend was important for Kaizer Chiefs on many fronts. Not only did it end a four-game losing run, the win also gave Chiefs their first clean sheet in seven games. Any slight hopes of a league title evaporated in that dreadful run, but Chiefs’ primary goal for the remainder of the season (finishing in third) remains well within reach. Chiefs have two games in hand on their rivals for the final CAF spot, and trail them by a solitary point. Yet, we’ve been here before, where false dawns are quickly followed by worrying results. However, a home game against the league’s basement dwellers is the last place Chiefs would expect to slip up. Bookies agree, with odds implying a 65% win probability for the home side.
16 – It has been over one year since Magesi won a league game away from home (P16 W0 D6 L10).

Stellenbosch (10th) v Chippa United (13th)
It may only be five games, but Stellenbosch are enjoying a five-game unbeaten run since getting eliminated from the Nedbank Cup a month ago. They are one of three teams yet to taste defeat in 2026 (alongside Siwelele & Sundowns), reinforcing their green shoots of recovery. These results have taken them to the brink of a Top 8 spot, which they can potentially step into with a win this weekend. At 2/1 for the win, Stellies are favourites for this one, and the history between the sides backs that up. It’s been four years since Chippa beat Stellenbosch, with eight meetings in that time (Stellies won 4 and drew 4). Add Chippa’s well-known away struggles (they’ve travelled by bus for this tie), and all bodes well for Gavin Hunt’s prospects against his former club this weekend.
1 – Chippa have won just one away game in all competitions since March last year (P18 W1 D8 L9).

TS Galaxy (9th) v Orlando Pirates (2nd)
With Sundowns not involved in domestic action this weekend, Orlando Pirates have a chance to get back to the top of the table with a win against TS Galaxy on Sunday afternoon. Their draw against Siwelele last week came as a shock to the system for Pirates fans, who had been involved in a neck-and-neck battle for top spot for a month. Only a win against the Rockets will restore belief that they can fight until the end. Pirates have conceded the fewest goals in the league so far (9), but their main issues lie upfront where they lead the league in missing big chances. Opportunities can be anticipated in this game, that much we can say with confidence. At 1.6/1, Pirates are overwhelming favourites to win, but history suggests this may not be so straightforward.
3-2 – TS Galaxy have won more games at home to Pirates than they have lost (3-2).
