Liverpool vs Everton – Preview, Predictions and Best Bets
Liverpool host Everton on Saturday in the English Premier League.
The Reds have won their last five matches but needed late goals. The Toffees started well and have seven points in their last three EPL fixtures.
Everton have won just once in their last 28 matches vs Liverpool.
Match: Liverpool vs Everton
When: Saturday, 20 September 2025
Liverpool Form
The Reds have won all of their matches this season. However, those five wins needed late goals on every occasion. They finished last term on a four-match winless streak in the league before losing to Crystal Palace on penalties in the Community Shield after a 2-2 draw.
Two late goals were needed on the opening day to beat Bournemouth 4-2 before a very late goal to win 3-2 at ten-man Newcastle, as a 2-0 lead was blown. A 1-0 win over Arsenal needed a late freekick before a 95th minute penalty to win 1-0 at Burnley. In midweek, another last-gasp goal was needed to beat Atletico Madrid 3-2 at home having led 2-0.
Liverpool Team News
Curtis Jones is the only injury concern for this match. Arne Slot could rotate his team with Milos Kerkez returning at left back. Jeremie Frimpong is fit to start again at right back.
Alexander Isak could drop down to the bench with Hugo Ekitike starting up front. Alexis Mac Allister has shaken off an injury and could start in midfield.
Liverpool Motivation
Arne Slot’s team will be highly motivated to win this derby and continue their perfect start.
The approach so far has been wide open. They do not look equipped to absorb pressure and may have to continue outscoring opponents.
Everton Form
Everton won their final three matches of last season as David Moyes’ return made a big impact. They won 3-1 at Fulham, 2-0 at home to Southampton and 1-0 at Newcastle. This season began with a 1-0 loss at Leeds as they were outshot 21-7.
A 2-0 home win over Brighton followed, although Everton allowed 2.43 xG in a fortunate victory. After beating Mansfield 2-0 in the Carabao Cup, they won 3-2 at Wolves in a fine display. Last week arguably saw their best performance of the season despite drawing 0-0 at home to Aston Villa. Everton had 20 shots and allowed just 0.54 xG to Villa.
Everton Team News
Jarrad Branthwaite continues to miss out in defence. Michael Keane will continue alongside James Tarkowski. Vitali Mykolenko should return at left back, allowing James Garner to return to a midfield role.
In attack, David Moyes must choose between Beto and Thierno Barry. Iliman Ndiaye will play down the right in preference to big summer signing Tyler Dibling.
Everton Motivation
A draw here would feel like a win for the Toffees. They could settle for a point quite early in the second half.
Everton are not a defensive side under Moyes and may look to get bodies forward against this leaky Reds defense.
