PGA Championship Sleeper Picks Worth Watching

Lee is the type of sleeper who carries both enormous upside and volatility, which makes him especially intriguing in a major championship setting.

Few players in the field possess his combination of creativity, speed, and raw shot-making talent. Lee can overpower long courses with his driver, but what makes him dangerous is his ability to manufacture recovery shots and adapt to unpredictable conditions around the greens.

That creativity becomes extremely valuable in PGA Championships because setups often force players into uncomfortable positions throughout the week. While he still lacks the consistent major résumé of more established contenders, he has flashed moments where his game looks capable of competing with anyone in the world.

If Aronimink plays firm and rewards players who can attack par fives aggressively while surviving difficult scrambling situations, Lee could become one of the breakout stars of the tournament. He may not yet be viewed as a polished major contender, but his ceiling is high enough to surprise everyone.

Gary Woodland

After undergoing brain surgery in 2023, Woodland has fought his way back into relevance with remarkable determination. He now looks stronger than ever off the tee, ranking second on tour in Driving Distance thanks to some explosive clubhead speed.

Aronimink may not be a full-on bomber’s paradise, but power still matters on a lengthy par-70 setup. More importantly, Woodland’s recent form is rock solid. He has four top-20 finishes in his last six starts including a win at Memorial Park and a top-eight at Harbour Town.

His US Open triumph at Pebble Beach proved he can handle demanding setups where approach play is everything. That same formula could put him firmly in the mix again this week.

Keegan Bradley

Bradley’s recent major record has been patchy with only one top 10 finish in his last 14 majors. But that lone top 10 came in this very event last year when he finished tied eighth.

He has always had a special relationship with the PGA dating back to his stunning win on debut in 2011. Over the last 18 months, he has also enjoyed something of a career revival and came agonisingly close to making last year’s Ryder Cup team.

His 2026 campaign has been inconsistent, but there are signs the game is trending in the right direction again. Bradley has posted three top-21 finishes in his last four starts and remains the type of proven competitor who can suddenly catch fire.

There’s also one massive piece of history working in his favour. The last time Aronimink hosted a PGA Tour event, Bradley won the 2018 BMW Championship at 20-under-par. That kind of course comfort could prove invaluable this week.

J.J. Spaun

Spaun might be one of the most overlooked names in the field despite having statistical indicators that scream sleeper value.

Golf Digest’s power rankings highlighted how strong his approach numbers have been this season, with Spaun ranking among the best iron players on Tour entering the championship.

That matters enormously at Aronimink because nearly every serious course preview has emphasized precision iron play as one of the defining factors this week. He also has experience succeeding in major-style conditions after winning in Pennsylvania previously and proving he can stay composed under pressure.

What makes him especially dangerous is that his profile does not attract the public attention that usually comes with elite statistical form. Bettors and fans naturally gravitate toward bigger names, leaving players like Spaun underrated despite metrics suggesting they can absolutely compete. If his putter heats up even slightly, his ball-striking alone could keep him near the top of the leaderboard throughout the weekend.

Adam Scott

Adam Scott may not be grabbing headlines, but the veteran Aussie is quietly piecing together one of his strongest seasons in years.

Scott has made all 10 cuts this season and landed inside the top 25 in seven of those starts. More importantly, his iron play has been exceptional. He currently sits third on tour for Strokes Gained: Approach the Green and looks sharp from virtually every distance.

While recent major form doesn’t leap off the page, his consistency and ball-striking make these odds look generous. If the putter behaves, Scott could absolutely work his way into contention.
