The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship
The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in collaboration with the DP World Tour, marks the start of the Tour’s end-of-season finale.
The season will culminate with the DP World Tour Championship, where the Race to Dubai champion will be crowned.
Following the completion of the Back 9 events, the top 70 available players will gather in Abu Dhabi from 6–10 November for the fourth Rolex Series event of the year. The tournament returns to Yas Links for the fourth consecutive season, after England’s Paul Waring claimed his maiden Rolex Series title there in 2024. Let’s explore the preview.
Matt Fitzpatrick
This season, Matt Fitzpatrick has demonstrated remarkable consistency on tour, achieving six top 10 finishes and further cementing his status as one of the world’s premier golfers. With nine DP Tour victories under his belt, he will be highly motivated to finish the year in style. As the 2022 US Open Champion, Fitzpatrick is known for his strong starts and ability to maintain a lead, consistently electrifying the crowd. Although he has faced some misfortune this year, which has prevented him from securing a deserving title, Fitzpatrick is now poised to overcome his disappointment and claim victory in Abu Dhabi.
Tyrrell Hatton
Tyrrell Hatton has been one of the standout performers on tour this season, with two titles to his name and a consistent ranking amongst the world’s best golfers. Hatton’s return to Dubai is filled with fond memories, as he won the Dubai Open earlier this year, and he is eager to continue his impressive run in the country. His record in the tournament is impressive, with finishes of second, sixth, and seventh in the last three seasons at Yas Links, and he is determined to build on this success. A runner-up finish at the Alfred Dunhill Links last month has provided a timely boost to his morale.
Daniel Brown
Daniel Brown has shown steady improvement throughout the year, exhibiting clear indicators of becoming a serious contender on tour. Following his runner-up finish four weeks ago, behind Marco Penge in the Spain Open, he travels to Abu Dhabi with heightened motivation. His previous success in Germany at the BMW International Open, coupled with his runner-up finish in Bahrain, demonstrate his expanding skillset. Notably, his first-round lead in the 2024 British Open at Royal Troon showcased his proficiency on links courses. He will undoubtedly aim to maintain his exceptional season.
Marco Penge
Marco Penge has one of the most inspirational stories of the season. The 27-year-old Englishman began the year on the back foot, serving a suspension after being found guilty of betting on multiple golf events. However, he has staged a remarkable comeback, winning three titles this year. His most recent victory at the Open de España secured him a spot in his Masters debut next year. Now, he heads to Dubai as a genuine title contender. It won’t be an easy task, as he faces stiff competition from a strong field, but Penge has firmly placed himself in contention to be crowned champion.
Prize Money
The tournament features a remarkable $9 million in total prize money, with the winner poised to take home $1,530,000. The event rewards all 70 participants, with the last finisher earning $17,100.
