The tournament will get underway on Thursday, 05 February, with players engaging in intense competition to emerge as the champion. This event has a history of providing a springboard for golfers to launch their careers with a win and establish themselves in the sport. The four-day competition is expected to be highly competitive, as all players are driven to perform at their best at the start of the season. Let’s preview the tournament.

David Hillier

David Hillier has established himself as one of the most consistent players on the DP World Tour over the past six months. In his last seven tournaments, he has secured top-six finishes five times. The 27-year-old Kiwi enjoyed a strong start to the season, finishing as runner-up in the Dubai Invitational, where he narrowly missed out on the title. Although he achieved a top-20 finish in the event, his recent form suggests he has a significant opportunity to claim a prestigious title.

Sam Bairstow

Since securing a tied tenth finish at the Australian Open last November, Sam Bairstow has struggled to produce the desired results. Nevertheless, the 27-year-old Englishman can be proud of his gradual improvement in each event he has entered. His progress has established him as a credible threat in the title race. Notably, Bairstow has a solid record in the event, having achieved two top-10 finishes. This motivation will be essential as he seeks to break his two-year title drought. The stage is now set for him to showcase his skills.

Grant Forrest

Grant Forrest is set to make his debut in the event. The 32-year-old Forrest has enjoyed a strong start to the year. Following his seventh-place finish at the Bahrain Open last week, where he executed some exceptional shots in the final holes, Forrest enters the event with high aspirations of securing the title. As a player renowned for his fighting spirit, Forrest is anticipated to be a formidable contender for the title.

Prize Money

The DP World Tour’s fourth event this year boasts a $2 750 000 purse, with the winner earning a $450 000 cheque.
