Mauritius Open Preview
The DP World Tour season will culminate in the Mauritius Open, scheduled to take place from Thursday, 18 December, to Sunday, 21 December.
This prestigious event will attract 156 players from around the world, all competing to end the year on a positive note. John Parry, the reigning champion, will seek to retain his title after a thrilling win last year. Le Reserve Golf Links has established itself as a venue known for dramatic conclusions, as seen in the 2019 and 2023 editions. Let’s delve into the preview.
John Parry
As the defending champion, John Parry will return to the event as a major contender for the title. In the previous year, Parry managed to edge out Dylan Naidoo and Christo Lamprecht, securing a two-stroke victory. The 39-year-old Englishman is returning to the competition with the goal of achieving a rare distinction – becoming the first person to win the title in consecutive years. If he succeeds, it would be a notable achievement. The odds are in his favour, and his season performance supports his status as the man to beat. With a top-10 ranking in the DP World Tour rankings, he has shown consistent form throughout the season. His recent finish inside the top 10 at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa further underscores his strong position.
Dylan Naidoo
Dylan Naidoo came close to winning the Mauritius Open last year, only to be denied the title by John Parry in the final stages. The 27-year-old South African will return to La Reserve Golf Links to convert past disappointments into success and rewrite history. This year has been a breakthrough year for Naidoo, who won his first DP World Tour title at the Investec South African Open Championship. This achievement was a long time coming for Naidoo, who had been knocking on the door for too long. Naidoo ended the year ranked 56th on the DP World Tour, demonstrating notable progress. Despite cutting the Alfred Dunhill Championship last week, he is projected to make a strong comeback in the upcoming tournament.
Eugenio Chacarra
This season, Eugenio Chacarra has been one of the standout players on the DP World Tour. At just 25 years old, the Spanish golfer has already achieved a notable milestone, securing his maiden DP World Tour title. Chacarra’s victory at the 2025 Hero Indian Open was a masterclass in golf, with the player delivering impressive performances across all four days. As the year nears its conclusion, he will be looking to build on his excellent form, although he can expect stiff competition from a field of high-caliber opponents, which will undoubtedly test his skills.
