The Club at Steyn City in Johannesburg will host a total of 57 golfers from around the world, all competing for the top prize. The tournament will tee off on Thursday, March 19, and is expected to wrap up after four days of exciting play. With more at stake, the competition is poised to be electrifying. LIV Golf is recognized for its generous payouts, with a total prize purse of $20 million on offer. Let’s preview the tournament.

Bryson Dechambeau

As the premier golfers gather to compete for the LIV Golf South Africa title, Bryson DeChambeau appears poised to be one of the leading contenders. Following his recent victory in LIV Golf Singapore, where he outdueled Richard Lee in a playoff, the 31-year-old American has reaffirmed his status as a formidable presence on the tour.

Notably, the win came just two weeks after a tied 24th-place finish at LIV Golf Hong Kong, underscoring his ability to rebound quickly from less-than-ideal results. DeChambeau has been steadily building momentum this season, highlighted by a tied third-place finish at LIV Golf Adelaide in February.

To cement his position among the tour’s elite, he will need to maintain this level of consistency and strong performance. The course at Steyn City Golf Club — known for rewarding aggressive playing styles — could play directly to DeChambeau’s strengths, giving him an opportunity to capitalize and contend for the title.

Jon Rahm

Last year, Jon Rahm enjoyed a remarkable season on the LIV Golf tour, demonstrating impressive consistency throughout the campaign. The only element missing from his otherwise outstanding year was a tournament victory. The 31-year-old Spaniard finished inside the top 10 on 11 occasions, including five runner-up finishes across various events.

This run of consistent performances came after his two title victories during the 2024 season, further highlighting his ability to compete at the highest level.

Rahm has carried that momentum into the new season, delivering strong results when it matters most. Most notably, he secured a victory at LIV Golf Hong Kong earlier this month.

His triumph in Hong Kong did not come as a surprise, given his second-place finishes at LIV Golf Adelaide and LIV Golf Riyadh earlier in the season. If Rahm continues to maintain this level of consistency, it will undoubtedly give him a significant edge over his competitors.

David Puig

The rise of David Puig in the golfing world over the past two years has sent a clear message that the young Spaniard is destined for greater things. The 24-year-old has begun the season in strong form, showcasing both talent and consistency across multiple tours.

His busy schedule has already seen him compete on the European Tour, where he delivered impressive results with a tied third-place finish at the Dubai Invitational and seventh place at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

Puig also made a strong start in his first LIV Golf event of the year in LIV Golf Riyadh, narrowly missing out on the title after finishing tied for fourth overall. He continued to demonstrate his consistency with another top-10 finish at LIV Golf Hong Kong.

Although he slipped to 21st place at LIV Golf Singapore, Puig will be eager to regain his form in the upcoming events. With his undeniable talent and growing experience, he has all the tools required to deliver strong performances — he simply needs to convert that potential into results.

Prize Money

A total prize purse of $20 million will be on offer, with the tournament winner set to receive $4 million. All 57 participants in the field will earn prize money, with the last eight finishers each guaranteed a payout of $50,000.
