The New York Knicks are NBA champions again.

For the first time since 1973, the Knicks sit on top of the NBA after beating the San Antonio Spurs 94 – 90 in Game 5 of the Finals on Saturday night.

The Knicks sealed the series 4-1, completing yet another NBA comeback to cap off a remarkable playoff run.

Brunson is the 2026 NBA Finals MVP

Jalen Brunson was named the 2026 NBA Finals MVP, after leading the team to their first championship in 53 years. He was unstoppable when it mattered most.

The Knicks star poured in 45 points, including 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to drag the Knicks back from a 16-point deficit.

It was another example of the resilience that defined the Knicks throughout the series, as they came from behind in all four of their wins against Spurs.

Nova Knicks shine bright

Brunson wasn’t alone. Former Villanova teammates Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart also played key roles in the title-clinching victory. Bridges finished with 14 points, while Hart added 13 as the ‘Nova Knicks’ trio completed their journey from college champions to NBA champions together in New York.

Spurs Fall Short Despite Strong Effort

The Spurs pushed hard to extend the series. Rookie Dylan Harper led the Spurs with 25 points, while Victor Wembanyama delivered a huge all-around performance with 19 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocks. But the Spurs couldn’t hold off Knicks late surge.

This was more than just a title for the Knicks. It was the end of a 53-year drought, the payoff for generations of loyalty, and the crowning moment of a team built on toughness, belief, and unforgettable comebacks. The 2026 NBA Champions are the New York Knicks.
