Thunder vs Spurs Preview: Can OKC finish the series?

The Thunder and Spurs are set for another exciting playoff battle as Oklahoma City looks to close out the series.

Heading to game 6 of the Western Conference finals against Oklahoma City Thunder, the San Antonio Spurs face elimination.

This comes right after the Spurs lost 114 – 127 to Thunder in Game 5, making Thunder lead the series 3 – 2. With Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell sustaining injuries, this makes Jared McCain shine as he needs to keep shooting even through times of struggle. Follow Bet.co.za for NBA Finals insights on who will join the New York Knicks next week.

Match Preview

The Thunder have been the stronger team in the last few games. They play with a lot of speed and score quickly on fast breaks. That has made things difficult for the Spurs in this series. Thunder will want to win this game to avoid the series moving to Game 7.

McCain scored 20 points in the previous game and assisted the team to take a lead in the series. He has been very effective with his mid-range shooting which could be a threat to Spurs.

The Spurs have already shown that they can fight back under pressure. Their Game 4 victory showed they can slow the Thunder down when they control the pace of the game and dominate inside the paint. They are facing elimination, so we know that they will bring their A-game to fight the Thunder from winning it.

Players to Watch

Oklahoma City Thunder – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Shai continues to be the heartbeat of the Thunder offence. His calmness under pressure, mid-range scoring, and ability to draw fouls make him unstoppable. If he holds the momentum from the word go, Thunder could take control quickly.

San Antonio Spurs – Victor Wembanyama

All eyes will be on Wembanyama. The young superstar can completely change a game with his shot-blocking, rebounding, and scoring. If he dominates the paint, the Spurs have a real chance to force Game 7.

What to expect

The Thunder are likely to play at a fast pace, using their quick ball movement to put pressure on the Spurs from the start.

Both teams are also expected to bring strong defensive energy, because this game will determine what happens next. With young stars on both sides, big individual performances could play a major role in deciding the outcome of the game.

The battle inside the paint will also be important, especially with Victor Wembanyama using his height and defensive ability to challenge the Thunder near the basket. The Spurs may try to slow the game down and make it more physical to stop Thunder from their fast attack.

You can expect a very fast and intense playoff game from the very beginning. Want to be a part of the action? Place your bet on Bet.co.za today.

Prediction

This game feels like it could go down to the final minute. The Spurs will have the home crowd behind them, but the Thunder’s confidence and depth may give them the edge. If Shai Gilgeous-Alexander controls the game, Thunder could book their place in the NBA Finals.
