Richards Bay vs Kaizer Chiefs – Preview, Predictions and Best Bets

Richards Bay face Kaizer Chiefs in the PSL on Tuesday night.

Chiefs are struggling with four losses in their last five matches. The Natal Rich Boyz have lost their last two PSL matches.

Richards Bay Form

Richards Bay strung together a much-improved run of form, losing just two of 17 matches. Since then, it’s two defeats and no goals scored in their last three matches. Their last eight league matches have seen six draws. They drew five straight league matches.

Another draw followed against Siwelele in the Nedbank Cup, before progressing on penalties. However, a poor 3-0 loss followed away to relegation-threatened Chippa United. A 1-0 home loss to AmaZulu in the Nedbank Cup saw Richards Bay put up 19 shots. On Sunday, drew 0-0 away at struggling Orbit College with just one shot on target produced.

Richards Bay Team News

Richards Bay have looked toothless up front in recent games. Gabadinho Mhango is out with a long-term injury whilst Knox Mutizwa has also been injured. The latter returned as a substitute in the meek draw at Orbit College and could start here.

Thabani Zuke has been dropped after some iffy displays in defence. Thembela Sikhakhane has been signed to bolster the right back position. Ian Otieno will start in goal ahead of Salim Magoola.

Richards Bay Motivation

The Rich Boyz will see a struggling Chiefs side and play with belief. They will try to grind out a victory on Tuesday.

The approach is set to be quite defensive. Richards Bay will be compact and look to use fast counters to hurt Amakhosi.

Kaizer Chiefs Form

Chiefs were on a run of one defeat in 15 matches. They’ve since lost four of their last five matches, crashing out of the Nedbank Cup, CAF Confederations Cup and PSL title race. They lost 2-1 to Stellenbosch in the Nedbank Cup before beating Al Masry 2-1 at home in continental action.

A 2-1 loss away to Zamalek – when they needed a draw – saw a premature CAF exit. Two poor PSL defeats have followed to ramp up pressure on their co-coaching duo. A lead was blown in a 2-1 home league defeat to Stellenbosch. On Saturday, Chiefs lost 3-0 to Orlando Pirates when the damage could have been ever bigger.

Kaizer Chiefs Team News

Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen is ruled out. Bruce Bvuma struggled in the last match, so Fiacre Ntwari may get a chance. Zitha Kwinika is suspended in defence, whilst Reeve Frosler, Given Msimango and Rushwin Dortley are out injured.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Siphesihle Ndlovu have missed recent matches in midfield. Mduduzi Shabalala was left in the stands for the Soweto Derby, whilst Etiosa Ighodaro and Mfundo Vilakazi are injured up front.

Kaizer Chiefs Motivation

Amakhosi need a win and strong response, but the players seem to have lost focus and motivation.

They will try to attack, but the defence has started leaking goals for fun. Chiefs can’t open themselves up too much or they could get hurt on the counter attack.
