‘He has proven himself’ – Sukazi appoints Bernard Parker as head coach
The president of TS Galaxy confirmed that Bernard Parker has been officially entrusted with the responsibility of taking over the team in full ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The decision signals strong confidence in Parker’s leadership abilities and his growing influence within the club’s technical structure.
After stepping into an interim role towards the end of the previous campaign, Parker managed to steady the team during a difficult period, guiding The Rockets away from the relegation zone and restoring belief in the squad.
His impact was immediately visible in improved organisation, discipline, and performances on the pitch.
“Look we have to follow reason and logic. So, here we are a young coach, South African, football legend and he is got all the credentials and all what it takes,” Sukazi said.
“He has proven himself, he has pull us out of the doldrums, after we has lost nine out of 10 of the league games.
“He had to coach the remaining five (matches) he hasn’t lost a match. The SE test for him was to play Mamelodi Sunodwns.
“After the big talks when we eliminated them in the Nedbank Cup. There talks about the field, Solomon Mahlungu (stadium) being small. Teboho Mokoena was not playing and Ronwen Williams and then I said Cardoso (Sundowns coach) let’s go to Mbombela.
“In a big field bring Mokoena and Williams and we won. So, it’s not just a question of Parker having won.”
Sukazi also revealed that if the pressure picks up on Parker in the next campaign, they will have other options and shift the former Kaizer Chiefs player.
As preparations begin for the PSL 2026/27 season, expectations will be higher, with the club hoping to build on the momentum generated at the end of last season and avoid another relegation battle.
“I think he took his football acumen to devices the strategy. He is showing good signs; it’s a question I will pose to the country,” he added.
“South Africa doesn’t not follow logic, and would it not make a perfect sense to remain in a coaching position as we develop him.
“Of course, when the pressure picks up, we will have the option of maybe sort of shift him and all that it is up on us. But this momentum has to be continued at TS Galaxy.”
The Rockets will now look to reinforce their squad and fully back Parker’s vision for the future.
