Barcelona face Inter Milan in the quarter-final first leg of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. Blaugrana last lifted this trophy in 2015 and come into the match on the back of winning the Copa del Rey. Inter have lost their last three matches.

Match: Barcelona vs Inter Milan
When: Wednesday, 30 April 2025, 21:00

Barcelona Form

Barcelona are having a remarkable season. They have already won two domestic trophies and are chasing a quadruple. Their last 28 fixtures have seen them lose just once. They beat Dortmund 4-0 in the quarter-final first leg before a 1-0 La Liga win at Leganes.

A 3-1 at Dortmund in the second leg ended a 24-match unbeaten run. A very late 4-3 home win vs Celta Vigo and a 1-0 win vs Mallorca followed. On Saturday, they beat Real Madrid 3-2 in the Copa del Rey final in extra time.

Barcelona Team News

Hansi Flick is set to have the same squad available as for the cup final. Marc-André Ter Stegen is back but will only be on the bench. Marc Bernal and Marc Cassado will play no part.

Alejandro Balde is nearing a return at left back but the match comes too soon for Robert Lewandowski due to a hamstring complaint. Ferran Torres could play as the central striker whilst Gavi and Fermin Lopez could freshen up the midfield.

Barcelona Motivation

Flick’s side are playing some incredible football and they will relentlessly attack Inter Milan in this first leg.

Barcelona will try to take a two-goal lead into the second leg and anything less than a win would be a big disappointment.

Inter Milan Form

Inter have lost their last three matches after a 13-match unbeaten. Those losses have seen them drop to second place in Serie A with just four matches left to play. After drawing 2-2 at Parma in the league, they won 2-1 at Bayern Munich in their Champions League quarter-final first leg. They allowed 20 shots and 2.30 xG in that win.

After a 3-1 win vs Cagliari, they drew 2-2 at home to Bayern Munich to reach the semis. Three straight losses have followed that. Inter were beaten 1-0 at Bologna and 3-0 by AC Milan in the Coppa Italia semi-finals. On Sunday, they lost 1-0 at home to Roma, where they allowed 19 shots and five big chances.

Inter Milan Team News

Coach Simone Inzaghi saw Benjamin Pavard go off injured vs Roma and he could miss this first leg. Valentin Carboni is out injure,d and Marcus Thuram remains a doubt up front.

Right wingback Denzel Dumfries and central midfielder Piotr Zielinski are available again. Alessandro Bastoni and Henrikh Mkhitaryan played no part in the last match but are set to be fit to start here.

Inter Milan Motivation

Inter have had their confidence hit by three losses and too much disruption to their XI.

Inzaghi’s side will come into this first leg and look to limit any damage. A draw would feel like a win whilst a one-goal defeat would give them a real chance in the second leg next week.

Key Stats

Barcelona have won 24 of their last 29 matches (4 draws, 1 loss)

Barcelona’s Raphinha has scored 15 goals in his last 14 matches in this competition

Inter Milan have lost their last 3 matches (13 unbeaten before that)

Inter Milan have lost 5 of their last 6 away matches vs Barcelona (13 goals conceded)

Verdict

Barcelona are flying right now and have a great record at home vs Inter. I see a first-leg win for Hansi Flick’s team with both sides on target.

Best Bet: Barcelona win at 1.60
Value Bet: Barcelona win and both teams to score at 2.87
Anytime Goalscorer Tip: Raphinha at 2.30
