International Rugby Predictions – 22-23 November

It’s one of the biggest games of the year as the Springboks look to take down Ireland and break their Dublin hoodoo on Saturday, writes Quintin van Jaarsveld.

Saturday’s other three Nations Series clashes will see Wales battle the All Blacks in Cardiff, Italy host Chile in Genoa, and France play the Wallabies in Paris.

There’s not one but two matches to look forward to on Sunday as Scotland tackle Tonga at Murrayfield and England face the Pumas at Twickenham.

Wales v New Zealand

Saturday, 22 November – 17:10

The celebrations over Wales’ last-gasp 24-23 win over Japan last weekend, their first triumph under new coach Steve Tandy, will be short-lived with the All Blacks coming to town.

The Kiwis are in a foul mood after England ended their Grand Slam dream with a 33-19 win at Twickenham last weekend. Having to redeem themselves, a recurring theme under Scott Robertson, New Zealand will drub the Dragons, but it’ll do little to wash the bad taste out of their supporters’ mouths, given just how poor this Wales team is.

Prediction: New Zealand by 30.

Suggested Bet: New Zealand -28 at 1.90.

Ireland v South Africa

Saturday, 22 November – 19:40

The blockbuster at the Aviva Stadium is up there with the second Test between the Wallabies and British & Irish Lions in July and the seismic showdown between the Boks and All Blacks at Eden Park in September as the biggest of 2025.

The rivalry between South Africa and Ireland have not just intensified but exploded in recent years. The current golden era of Boks have just about done it all, from winning a British & Irish Lions series to clinching back-to-back World Cup and Rugby Championship titles.

Rassie Erasmus’ men have also continuously evolved and been incredibly consistent. They’ve grown into a Green and Gold juggernaut unlike any we’ve seen before and have won 21 of the 25 Tests they’ve played since retaining the Webb Ellis Cup two years ago.

The No. 1 team in the world by some margin, they’re currently on a six-match winning streak, with their only defeats this year coming against Australia at Ellis Park and in the aforementioned Eden Park blockbuster, and showed true South African grit to beat both France and Italy with 14 men in their last two outings.

For all they’ve achieved, the one feat that still eludes Siya Kolisi and company is beating Ireland in Dublin. The last Bok team to do this was the Jean de Villiers-led 2012 vintage, who came from behind to triumph 16-12.

Andy Farrell’s side have won four of the last five meetings against the Boks, including their pool-stage victory at the 2023 World Cup, and managed a hard-fought 1-1 series draw on South African soil last year.

Ireland were at their peak heading into the 2023 World Cup, only to once again crash out at the quarter-final stage. They did win the Six Nations last year but relinquished that crown to France this year and are in a steady decline.

Still, they’re coming off a record 43-19 drubbing of the Wallabies and seem to lift their game whenever they battle the Boks. South Africa are the better side, they have a ton of momentum, and this is one they really want to win.

That desire will be their driving force and bar any further major controversial officiating calls against them, the Boks should break their Dublin duck.

Prediction: South Africa by 5.

Suggested Bet: Ireland +6 at 1.90.

Italy v Chile

Saturday, 22 November – 22:10

Italy will feel they missed a chance to clinch a rare win over the Boks last weekend. For as much improvement as they’ve made under Gonzalo Quesada, which earned them a second win over the Wallabies the previous week, they couldn’t break the fighting spirit of the 14-man Boks.

If nothing else, they’ll come up against a passionate Chile team in this first-ever encounter. For the visitors, it’s a historic return to Europe after their maiden World Cup in 2023 – a campaign that, though winless, marked their arrival on the sport’s biggest stage and inspired a generation back home.

Los Cóndores have only played one game this year, beating Romania 40-16, so this is a huge ask for them. Hopefully, the minnows can score a try or two in a game destined to end in defeat for them.

Prediction: Italy by 32.

Suggested Bet: Italy -27 at 1.90.

France v Australia

Saturday, 22 November – 22:10

The Wallabies have run out of puff after their encouraging start to the season and have to dig down deep if they want to avoid a historic low in Paris.

Last weekend’s record 46-19 defeat to Ireland in Dublin added to their woes and made it three losses in a row following earlier setbacks against England at Twickenham and Italy in Udine.

Joe Schmidt’s men are now on the brink of becoming the first Wallabies side to suffer four consecutive defeats on a Northern Hemisphere tour since 1958.

As fate would have it, they’re facing the current kings of the North, a fresh-legged France team who should put them to the sword.

Prediction: France by 17.

Suggested Bet: France -16 at 1.90.

Scotland v Tonga

Sunday, 23 November – 15:40

Stunned 33-24 by Argentina after leading 21-0 last weekend, Scotland have a lot to make up for on Sunday. Fortunately for them, they take on a Tier 2 team in Tonga.

‘Ikale Tahi are coming off a third-place finish in the Pacific Nations Cup, where they beat Canada and Samoa but fell to Fiji and Japan. Their squad blends European-based professionals with homegrown talent and are known for their physicality.

This fixture marks Tonga’s first visit to Edinburgh since 2021, when Kyle Steyn scored four tries in a 60–14 Scottish win. The two sides last met at the 2023 World Cup, where Scotland again ran out comfortable 45–17 winners in Nice, and it’ll be much of the same on Sunday.

Prediction: Scotland by 24.

Suggested Bet: Tonga +42 at 1.90.

England v Argentina

Sunday, 23 November – 18:10

While it doesn’t have the same buzz as last weekend’s blockbuster against the All Blacks, Twickenham will host another cracker on Sunday.

Surging England are on a high and proved they’re the real deal with their 33-19 triumph over New Zealand to make it 10 wins on the trot, but if they’re not careful, the talented Argentinians could bring them back down to earth.

The red-hot Pumas are eyeing a historic year-end Northern Hemisphere tour clean sweep after following up their record 52-28 win over Wales in Cardiff with an epic 33-24 come-from-behind victory over Scotland at Murrayfield last weekend.

Argentina have only beaten England five times in 29 outings, with two of those wins coming at Twickenham, including the most recent, a 30-29 triumph back in 2022.

England have won all four fixtures between the sides since, and their Pom Squad bench should see them continue their winning ways.

Prediction: England by 14.

Suggested Bet: England -10 at 1.90.
