Honda LPGA Thailand Preview
The Honda LPGA Thailand marks the return of the LPGA tour, following a three-week break. This tournament boasts three former champions, including Angel Yin, Ariya Jutanugarn, and Nanna Madsen.
Additionally, the field features 21 players ranked among the world’s top 25. Historically, the tournament has seen a new winner emerge every year for the past 14 years. Whether this record is maintained or broken remains to be seen. The tournament promises to be thrilling over four days. Let’s preview the event.
Angel Yin
Angel Yin is set to return to the Honda LPGA Thailand as a strong contender for the title. Last year, Yin delivered an outstanding performance to claim the title with a record-breaking 28-under-par score at Siam Country Club’s Old Course, narrowly defeating Japanese rookie Akie Iwai by a single stroke. The 27-year-old American athlete secured her second LPGA title with a final-round 65, achieving the lowest winning score on Tour since Lydia Ko’s 28-under performance at the LOTTE Championship presented by Hoakalei at Kapolei Golf Club. Yin’s victory was nearly derailed on the back nine, as Iwai carded an 11-under 61 in her Honda LPGA Thailand debut, erasing Yin’s five-shot lead entering the final round. If Yin takes the title, she will be the first player in 14 years, since Yang Tseng, to capture the title.
Jeeno Thitikul
Following a solid start to the season, where Jeeno Thitikul secured a tied seventh place in the HGV Tournament of Champions, she will strive to enhance her performance at the Honda LPGA Thailand. Competing on home soil, Thitikul will derive a morale boost from the local crowd. Her past appearances in the event have yielded a commendable record, including two top-three finishes. As she enters the competition, she will sense that it is her time to emerge victorious. She possesses the requisite qualities to withstand pressure and deliver exceptional performances.
Prize Money
