The Eastern Conference Finals (ECF)are finally here, and basketball fans are in for a treat as the New York Knicks faces the Cleveland Cavaliers at their home court for the Eastern Conference Finals on 20 May.

With just four teams left, everyone’s eye is on the NBA finals. After months of the season’s action and intense playoff rounds, the teams are both close to reaching the NBA finals.

With many great players on the line, this series will be the most exciting matchup of the postseason. Follow up on all things basketball at Bet.co.za and be a part of the action as it unfolds.

Match Preview

Both these teams have a history together. Knicks signed Jalen Brunson and also tried to recruit Donovan Mitchell, which never happened because he chose to join Cleveland instead. Nearly four years later, both players have become the faces of their franchises and are now leading their teams in a showdown with a trip to the NBA Finals on the line.

The Knicks last played on May 10, when they defeated Philadelphia 76ers 114 – 114 in the second round. We must say from the 10th, that’s quite a break to recover and prepare for the biggest playoff series in decades.

It’s worth mentioning that the Knicks have been one of the hottest teams in the postseason. They have won seven straight games and done so in dominant fashion. Their average winning margin through the first two playoff rounds has been nearly 20 points per game, showing just how impressive they have been on both ends of the court.

The postseason hasn’t been smooth sailing for the Cavaliers. They had to fight tooth and nail to secure a spot in the conference finals. They came back with a bang on game 7, where they finished off Detroit Pistons with a 125 – 94 victory. This energy and strategy could work on their favour as they prepare for yet another difficult challenge.

Reaching the NBA finals is yet another big challenge for them, seeing how defensive and fast the Knicks are. Even though the Knicks could use the home-court to their advantage, there’s still a chance that the Cavaliers could come on top. They have shown that they can perform well under pressure, even when they’re away from home.

Players to Watch

New York Knicks – Jalen Brunson

Brunson has transformed the Knicks into a genuine contender since arriving in 2022. His leadership, scoring ability, and calmness under pressure have been key to the Knicks’ success. He is expected to set the tone in Game 1.

Cleveland Cavaliers – Donovan Mitchell

With Mitchell making the ECF for the first time, he is the player to look out for. He assisted the team in fighting back Detroit, to advance to the next stage. One thing for sure, he’ll want to continue with his strong gameplay to defeat the Knicks at home.

What to Expect

Game 1 is going to be one for the books, seeing that it’s a whole battle for the eye on the prize. The Knicks are hosting and will use that to their advantage, while the Cavaliers are still a bit shaken after winning the 7th game series.

Expect a tough competitive game, as both teams want to show off their capabilities, strength and energy for a step towards the NBA finals. While on that, don’t get left behind, bet on ECF with Bet.co.za and be a part of the action.

Prediction

Basketball is unpredictable, but with recent form, we can tell that the Cavaliers won’t make things easy. The Knicks have been consistence in their games and winning most of them, so that should count for something. Not forgetting that they’re also home, and it’s where most teams excel the most, so that might make them come out on top.
